Thank you to the approximately 35 individuals who attended the September 20, 2016 open house from 4:00 – 7:00 pm to learn and share ideas about the road name changes proposed by the Mayor, Police Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, and Postmaster to correct road-name confusion resulting from four different naming conventions used in the past.
Individuals at the open house said they would rather choose their road names rather than use names of historic landowners from the June 30, 1959 “Map of Village of Middleton.” The map on pages 2-3 shows the revised proposed names. Everyone is invited to the city’s public meetings on October 5 and 19, 2016 to suggest improvements to the proposed road names. The implementation schedule is listed below.
October 5, 2016 Public Meeting 6:30 pm at Middleton City Hall to
consider renaming roads.
October 19, 2016 Public Meeting 6:30 pm at Middleton City Hall to
make a final decision about renaming roads.
October 2016 City will notify county records, assessors, and
mapping offices, post office, emergency
services, utility companies, and Google Maps of
changes.
Nov – Dec, 2016 Landowners notify friends, family, financial
institutions, etc. of changes.
January 15, 2017 City will install new road name signs: two teams
of two public works employees replacing about
10 signs per day will take two days to replace 40
signs at a total materials and labor cost of
approximately $4,560.
Jan 15 – Mar 19, 2017 Post office will acknowledge mail with old and
new road names and deliver mail.
March 20, 2017 Post office will deliver mail using new road
names.
